Orphanage in Mozambique, Africa
From January to June 2010, we had the opportunity to serve as Interim Directors of a large ministry and children's center (orphanage) in Dondo, Mozambique. Not only did we gain valuable experience there, but we also met and grew very close to a Mozambican Pastor named Abel, who together with his wife, Judite, were caring for 25 orphan children (in addition to one of their own) out of their very small home.

The day after we returned to the U.S., Judite gave birth to a baby girl. Unfortunately, she died a few months later from complications of the child birth. The newborn baby became sick and also passed away less than two months later. Grieved, but determined to not give up, Abel has carried on alone, raising his young son and carrying for the orphans in his community. He now cares for 20 children in his home as well as approximately 28 more in the community on a limited bases. A few family and church members help in any way they can, but the face of Mozambique is poverty, and they need help from all of us.

For several years Abel was primarily supported by a ministry in Canada. In June 2011, that support was discontinued as the organization wanted to focus on their primary ministry in another country. He is working hard to develop resources to provide a degree of self-sufficiency, but it has been a slow process in Mozambique's poor economy. Right now the orphan children in Abel's care are in a difficult situation and need assistance. We want to ensure that the physical, educational, and spiritual needs of the orphan children in his care are still met, but we can't see that goal met without your monthly financial support.

Pastor Abel's vision has long been to raise these children to become intercessory prayer warriors and to see them become godly leaders in their community and their nation. We share that vision with him. While in Mozambique we were blessed to witness these children in intercessory prayer, praying fervently for each other, those around them (including us), and even for America. Yes, poverty stricken orphans in a 3rd world African country were praying for those of us in America!

With your prayer support and monthly financial support we can save these children from starvation, poverty, and disease and continue to bring them hope through a personal relationship with Christ. Together we are ALL the body of Christ. We ARE His hands and His feet. TOGETHER we can help change the face of Mozambique.

How you can help...
$35 a month can feed, clothe, & provide an education for a child.
What good is it, my brothers, if a man claims to have faith but has no deeds? Can such faith save him? Suppose a brother or sister is without clothes and daily food. If one of you says to him, "Go, I wish you well; keep warm and well fed," but does nothing about his physical needs, what good is it? In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead.
